Difference between ADD and ADHD.Some say the possession of enthusiasm could be the difference between ADD and ADHD. Is this perhaps why others label ADHD wrongly as ‘bipolar mental disorder’? Or that people may think this is a typical ADHD behaviour expression?Nevertheless: enthusiasm is one of the most heard positive characteristics of ADHD. We are able to be very energetic on high level and very intense. When somebody or something touches us in the right way: here we go! PrefaceIn this place, I tell you some examples of applying enthusiasm. The aim is to incite you to think about an example in your own life. When you find such an example: let it flow in your mind. Alternatively –even better- share it with someone! So that you make a little start to enjoy your assets.We start with looking in the English dictionary. Alle rechten voorbehouden.) Isn’t it beautiful? I am sure you have many examples in your life of enthusiasm. Young adultWe go to 1986, my age is 26. I am a member of a political party the “Socialistiese Partij (SP)”. It is at that time a Marxist-Leninist party. The ideology fascinates me already years before. In that year a representative of the SP invites me to the list of candidates for the municipal council. My answer to that question is that I am very honoured and want to play an active part. These are not only words; most of my spare time goes quick into this.In less than one year time I am chairman of the local department.This function contains the representation to the national committee. Other tasks are the recruitment of new members. When someone becomes passive member the aim is to make him/her an active one. Is someone active member then he/she needs education in the principals and practice. All these tasks I fill with great dedication. When I start the local department had 50 members, 5 active ones.The percentage of votes for the town council is 5%. Four years later, 30 years oldFour years later the party department has 250 members and the percentage of votes is 15%! The energy this required is almost endless. I remember that in one election year I had vacation after the date of elections. I needed one week to recuperate from the work, before I could enjoy the vacation.We write 1991 when I decide to step out, the focus span was over. I said goodbye to the ideology and have another philosophy of life. In this time I learn very much about being good with people, public speaking, writing lectures, giving discourse and more. But I am not aware at all about a difference between ADD and ADHD. Stronger: I haven't heard at all about this matter!
Older adult: 46Another example:It is 2006 and my wife (Thea) and I decide to step out the life we have and go to travel. ‘Change course’ so to say. After long talking and thinking together, we sell our house and quit our jobs. The desire of Thea is to travel with a RV (caravan), my desire is to work and live with horses. We make a combination and buy a coach (gipsy wagon) and two horses. I have worked with one horse in the past, but have not that much experience. That doesn’t bother; my attitude is that I can learn anything, until the opposite is proven. I take driving lessons with one horse; the final goal is to travel with a two-horse team. This lessons go well, in the meantime works Thea on the gipsy wagon.A few months later we drive in a two-horse train carriage through the forest and on the road. There we go: for a very long travel!!Then we are ready to go. In October last year is the first trip with the two-horse team. The 1st of February this year we start our great journey. At his moment we write November 2007 and we have reached Hungary! The total distance we travelled in and from Holland to Hungary is 1.600 miles.And the respect of the people is great, what counts especially for me is the respect of the horse-people. They can imagine best what it takes to do something like this. And which efforts and skills it asks to reach such. You can make your own conclusion about the difference between ADD and ADHD!!
